Join UW-Whitewater’s Dr. Benjamin Whitcomb for a 1pm concert with pianist Dr. Myung Hee Chung, featuring works by Kahn, Martinu, & Milhaud, followed by a 2pm cello master class featuring Conservatory students. Dr. Whitcomb has served as Assoc. Principal Cello of the Madison Symphony & the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and is a member of the Ancora String Quartet & the UW-Whitewater Piano Trio.

Dr. Whitcomb is an active recitalist that performs more than thirty times a year, and this special concert at the Conservatory with guest pianist Myung Hee Chung will feature  works by Kahn, Martinu, and Milhaud.

Myung Hee Chung

Pianist | Professor

Background

Born in Korea, Dr. Myung Hee Chung started playing the piano at the age of 4 and won prestigious national competitions in Korea by the age of 10. She came to the United States at 17 to study under Tong-Il Han and later attended the Juilliard School in New York on scholarship, studying with Martin Canin, and received her B.M. and M.M. degrees. Her D.M.A. degree is from Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she studied with renowned pianist Gary Graffman.

Cello & Chalk

Benjamin Whitcomb, professor of cello and music theory at UW-Whitewater, performed Bach’s Suites Cycle in downtown Whitewater while Bethany Dahl, an artist from UW-Madison, made chalk drawings on the sidewalk.
