A Little About Us

Wisconsin Conservatory of Music

The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music is the largest non-profit community music school in the state. Founded in 1899, the Conservatory provides musical experiences to students from age four months through senior citizen, to all levels of abilities, working to develop creative, artistic, and whole individuals.

The Conservatory annually reaches over 16,000 individuals across southeast Wisconsin through individual lessons, classes, festivals, camps, concerts, fundraising events, and our community music education program Conservatory Connections.

Benefits available to all employees

On your first day of employment with the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, you will be eligible to receive:

Wisconsin Conservatory of Music employees that work more than 5 hours per week will be eligible for:

  • 50% discount on Conservatory tuition for employees and employee family members

Employed for 1 year or more

Conservatory employees that have been with the organization at least one year will be eligible to:

  • Apply for Conservatory Innovation Funding.

Staff Positions

Education Department Coordinator

The Education Department Coordinator plays a central role in supporting the daily operation of a highly collaborative Education Department, specifically the Community Partnerships programming. This position blends a focus on operational processes, external communication relevant to partner administration, and internal communication with WCM teaching artists.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hold to WCM’s mission and values of ExcellenceInclusionEmpathy, and Integrity.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with Community Partnership organizations regarding faculty teaching schedules.
  • Alongside the Education Team, assist in the coordination of faculty placement at Community Partnership sites.
  • Lead record creation and record maintenance for Community Partnership sites, including the creation of Summary of Vendor Services (SVS) Agreements, site contracts, and faculty teaching schedules.
  • Maintain and/or create Community Partnership impact and capacity reports in collaboration with the WCM Development Team.
  • Alongside the Education Team, maintain faculty communication channels, such as the weekly feedback form or Education Department weekly digest, and address or route requests for assistance to relevant staff or faculty.
  • Assist the Choral/General Music Coordinator and Director of Education in connecting faculty to resources and training to assist their work at Community Partnership sites.
  • Manage placements, substitutions, and performance opportunities for WCM programs at Community Partnership sites and for Outreach and Recruitment events.
  • Serve as an on-site administrative presence for Summer Music Exploration Camps.
  • Assist the Education Team with new teacher recruitment initiatives and Community Partnerships professional development and training sessions.
  • Manage Instrument Inventory for Community Partnerships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position requires in-person work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Reliable transportation and valid Driver’s License
