Piano Department
The piano is the most versatile of all musical instruments and its capacity to add harmony to melody is enjoyed by all. It is an invaluable first instrument for beginning music study and understanding basic music fundamentals and theory. Whether you learn to play the piano for a few years and move onto another instrument or enjoy it as a lifelong interest the piano is an excellent choice for everyone!
What We Offer:
- Over 20 professional faculty members who are experienced teachers and accomplished performers with advanced degrees
- A wide range of styles, from traditional and classical to jazz, gospel and contemporary/popular
Customized individual instruction based on age, level and learning style (children can begin piano study at grade K4)
- Group classes for children, teens, adults, and older adults
- Fully equipped piano studios housing 57 pianos
- 27 grand pianos including Steinway, Mason and Hamlin, Bösendorfer , Yamaha and our 1926 Steinway “D” concert grand piano
- 9 studios with two grand pianos allowing for concerto rehearsals and two-piano ensembles
- 2 keyboard labs (16 digital keyboards)
- Sabathil Harpsichord
- Solo and ensemble competition coaching as well as audition preparation
- Performance opportunities in the acoustically superb and beautiful Helen Bader Recital Hall
- The Dorothea Music Library with over 50,000 CDs and LPs, DVD scores and books

Tuition Rates for Individual Instruction:
Range from $30-$32 for a thirty minute lesson; $45-$47.50 for a forty five minute lesson; or $60-$64 for a sixty minute lesson.
