Sing your way through this theme-based class! Each week children will explore the components that go into writing a song while learning beginning vocal technique. Students will have fun with improvisation and acting games, lyric writing, melody creation, and exploring notation. This semester focuses on "Exploring The Forest” The last class culminates in a presentation of the piece for parents/ caregivers. Students will receive a printed copy of the music they created!

Learn new concepts and songs each semester! Introduce your child to the joy of making music with others. This class emphasizes the ensemble aspects of music through playing wooden mallet Orff xylophones, song, expressive movement, improvisation and storytelling. While enjoying creative musical games, your child will learn musical concepts such as form, dynamics and phrasing. Your child will also develop skills such as singing in tune, recognizing rhythm patterns and melodic intervals, and reading and writing music. Your child will gain both music literacy and an enjoyment of music, which will prepare them for further instrumental or vocal studies.

This class emphasizes the ensemble aspects of world music utilizing hand drums, small percussion instruments and Orff xylophones. Students will explore the cultural history of music from Africa, the Caribbean and Brazil. The class enhances listening skills, musicality, working as a team and recognizing polyrhythmic patterns. Students will learn to improvise and have the opportunity to compose their own pieces while learning traditional drumming/percussion skills and music reading. A performance at the last class completes the experience.
